Passion's 1st vaccine!

Mooks and I brought Passion for her first Vaccine on Monday. I was feeling so anxious and nervous for her! gosh. It really felt as though I'm the one going for an injection. Passion was really brave, she didn't even scream or jump! Good girl!
However, she was feeling pretty anxious at the waiting corner. There were many BIG dogs - Labradors, Huskies, Alsatians. At one point, Passion kept barking non stop and mum mum told her: "You ah, so small. The Alsatian come and eat you ah!" Hahaha! It was really funny.

FYI, This is what an Alsatian looks like:

This is the closest I can find on Google.
The one we saw at the Animal Hospital was so much BIGGER and fiercer looking.

Here are some of the pictures I took that day:

Passion in her Doggy-carrier. Ready to go out!
She really likes it inside.

Charlie bidding Passion 'goodbye', awwwww..
Look at Charlie's sad face.. :(

Passion's Vaccine Records.. :)

Yay! So glad to be back home! :D
There are a total of 3 vaccines to be completed so.. 2 more to go! Her next appointment will be on the 23rd next month.
However, due to my Shanghai trip from the 14-28 of September, I won't be able to bring her there. :( Be brave, Passion!
(P.S Just pulled out a piece of tape from her mouth. Urgh. )

Love, Bena

Crystal Jing Fung!

Who doesn't like Xiao Long Bao? (a.k.a Soup Dumplings)
Well, apart from my fellow muslims friends.. I bet everyone else just cannot resist a basket of those meat babies. Looking at the dumpling droop carefully all over your porcelain spoon, and biting through the thin skin - Letting your tastebuds in for a real treat.

On the 18th of August, Muffy and I went to 313 for a XLB Hunt! It was pretty fun. We started off at Bao Jing Tian, which I found very good. Then followed by Dun Tai Fung's which was.. REALLY good. I had the XLB at Crystal Jade with Mooks the day before. I was pretty disappointed as the skin was really disgusting and it LOOKED appaling as well. Gross. Thank God there was only 4, haha!

So without futher ado, get ready to view some Food Porn.

Crystal Jade Kitchen, J8

Makan Buddy: Mooks

Price: $4 for 4 dumplings in a basket
Appearance: 1/5
(When the basket arrived at our table, the dumplings were sunken and looked as if there wasn't any moisture left)

Taste: 1/5
( Too salty, the meat smelt very strong. There wasn't much filings in the dumplings as well. )

Texture: 2/5
( The skin was quite thin. 2/4 XLB broke before I was able to slowly savour its goodness. )

Aroma: 3/5
( Smelt good! Typical XLB aroma as it approached the table. )

VERDICT: 7/20 = YOU FAILED, Crystal Jade! =/
I was really disappointed as there were many recomendations to go to Crystal Jade for XLB.
Meh..

Din Tai Fung, Somerset 313

Makan Buddy: Muffy

Price: $9.10{around there} for 10 dumplings

Appearance: 4/5 (Looked really appetising! Fluffy and juicy.)

Taste: 5/5 ( Mind blowing-ly awesome. The meat LITERALLY melts in your mouth, leaving you feeling euphoric and contented. Generous amount of meat inside as well. Really juicy as well. )

Texture: 4/5 ( The skin did break no matter how I held it with my chopsticks. No matter how I pulled and abused it, IT DIDN'T BREAK. This shows how thin but firm the skin of the dumplings are. When it goes into your mouth, it breaks open to reveal bits of awesomeness.

Aroma: 3/5 (Typical XLB aroma, wasn't overpowering but 'okay')

Verdict: 16/20 } This is really good! It really lived up to its name. I don't mind going for another round, hehe!

Bao Jing Tian, Somerset 313

Makan Buddy: Muffy

Price: $3.25 for 3 dumplings ( The most expensive of all the 3 restaurants we visited)

Appearance: 3/5 (Pretty sunken, but it still looked poofy.)

Taste: 3/5 ( The meat smell wasn't too strong but there were still hints of it here and there. Good on the overall, edible. )

Texture: 2/5 (The skin breaks pretty easily but if handled carefully like a fragile object, it wouldn't break. However, if you were to jab it, It would break down and cry out its contents. GROSS. )

Aroma: 4/5 ( This one smelt the best, I don't know why! hahaha! The aroma tunneled into my nostrills and channelled my brain to give it a good score. just kidding, it was really aromatic. )

Verdict: 12/20 } Good, fantastic aroma. Only tastes so-so..

DISCLAIMER: I have no intention of advertising any of these restaurants as listed above. I have not been paid to do this, threatened with a knife or whatsoever. This crtic post has been sparked due to my pure curiousity and boredom. Thank you.

P.S Passion went for her first round of Vaccine the day before. She was so brave! To be honest, I was feeling quite nervous and scared fore her as I'm not very fond of injections myself.

Gonna study for UT3 now, toodles and I hope you managed to gain more insight on where good XLB can be found!

Love, Benananana

45th birthday

The 'Don't Forget The Title/Lyrics' carnival booth was pretty fun! The kids totally went GAGA over the earphones. We all had a good time. I guess all the trouble, meet ups with Megan and planning all paid off. Last but not least, THANK GOD. (:

In the blink of an eye, Singapore's already 45. I was just listening to "Count On Me Singapore" in the library yesterday. I plugged in my earphones and paid close attention to the lyrics. It kinda stirred me inside. This version, with all the 'big' people singing in it - made the difference.

Listen to it, and you'll understand what I mean.

On a sidenote, Happy Birthday Singapore! :)

OCL- that stands for Out Campus Learning

I always forget what O stands for. Why can't they just say E-Learning..
RJ, CE, PPT, PDT, PBL, IG. All the short form lingo used in RP.

RJ = Reflection Journal
CE = Creative Engagement
PPT = Powerpoint
PDT = Problem Definition Template
PBL = Problem Based Learning
IG = Interest Group

All that jargon.

I never planned to go into all of this at all. Oh well, today's OCL. Which means we stay at home and do what we do in school and don't get a grade.
So obviously, not many would want to do.

But I did, lah. I've completed my PDT, worksheet and PPT already. I'm now left with Evaluation, RJ & Quiz. I was supposed to be at 8:20am this morning. BUT I WOKE UP AT 8:35.
You know the feeling you get in the morning whne you wake up? you open those peepers to find the BRIGHT SCORCHING SUN in your face. then you go like: SHIT. or WHOA SIAN. or *MOANS. hahaha. that's quite funny huh?

Anyway, back to my story - I woke up at 8:35am and went like: "WHOA SIAN.." and ran my laptop and switched it on ASAP. What an awesome way to start my day. and No, I didn't even put on my spectacles. That was quite dumb of me as I'm blind as a bat without them.
ha ha, the things one will do in an unconcious state.

I was having a mass conversation with JJ and Yeesin just now. The both of them are so cute, haha! I was chatting with JJ in the early part of the day like the whole morning. It felt as if we were in school having a discussion at the usual table.

There's gonna be CG/Worship session later at Regent. But I'm gonna meet Megan at Bishan Library before that to discuss some stuff about CMK. We'll be setting up a 'Don't Forget The Title' carnival booth for national day. heh heh!

Before I end this post, I just wanna share this quote I saw on Facebook that I found really amusing.

"Officer, I swear to drunk I'm not God"

heh, It made me chuckle.
